So, it looks like we are in the midst of another British Invasion. But with all this great talent… who is complaining?

If you haven’t heard of The Ting Tings then you have been under a rock for the past 5 months! Even if you don’t recognize the band name, their songs are all over (from i-pod commercials to TV shows like Gossip Girl to in the movie Slumdog Millionaire). This duo (Jules De Martino and Katie White), from Manchester, were dropped by their label (Mercury) right before they were to release their debut album. They ended up splitting the band up but continued jamming at parties for fun. Their manager set up a 5 day tour and the very next week they were set to play at the Glastonbury Festival. It was there that a music scout for Apple heard them… and the rest is history.

The Kooks (from Brighton) have already put out two hit albums; Konk (2008) and Inside In/Inside Out (2006). But they are still not as popular in the US as they would like to be. But with their pop-punk love songs, I don’t think it will be too long.

Noah and the Whale (from London) have only had one big single (5 years time). But their whole album has been well received and a big hit among the indie/ folk music lovers.
I hope for more to come from neighbors across the pond!
