More great lines from the film:

“You can be as mad as a mad dog at the way things went. You can swear and curse the fates, but in the end, you have to let go.”

” Its a funny thing coming home. Nothing changes. Everything looks the same, feels the same, even smells the same. You realize what’s changed, is you.”

“For what its worth, its never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be. There’s no limit… start whenever you want… you can change or stay the same. There are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that stop you. I hope you feel things that you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life that you’re proud of and if you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.”

I saw this over the Christmas break and my brother already wrote about it. But I can’t stop thinking about the film. It was so well made. The Cinematography (Claudio Miranda), the Screenplay (Eric Roth; Munich, Ali, Forrest Gump), the Make-up, New Orleans, the acting, and of course the Director (David Fincher; Zodiac, Fight Club, The Game, Se7en). I was so moved by the writing; it was like poetry. It was defiantly one of the best films of this year. Brad Pitt is very subtle in his performance and I am hoping he wins an Oscar.
Quotes from the movie:
“We were ment to lose people, that’s the only way we know how important they are.”
“I was thinking how nothing lasts.”

“The tears come streaming down your face
When you loose something you can’t replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you”

late to you,
on the blue line
coming late
to you, but
i am

This is by a friend of mine, a beautiful poet by the name of Kevin Coval. He has had great success here in Chicago. Check him out! His book is Every Day People.

I was reading about how successful Brian Grazer and Ron Howard are because of Imagine Entertainment. They apparently have a position that pays $150,000.00 a year that is called “cultural attache”. The job description:
Keeping Grazer abreast of the Zeitgeist in music, politics, culture, and pretty much everything else.
Reading four or five books a week.
Introducing him to one fascinating person a week from every conceivable walk of life.
Wow, I want this job!
Here are some bands that I have been liking. And they all have something in common…
Cold War Kids

Cold War Kids are fast becoming one of my favorite bands. The band is from California and they have toured with The White Stripes. They have said that their influences are Bob Dylan and The Velvet Underground. The interesting thing about them is that they like to paint vivid pictures and create characters with their music. They are telling stories; similar to that of gospel music. With so much depth and art in their music it is hard not to feel the emotion that comes into their music.
Black Kids

This group originated in Florida and has toured with Kate Nash and Cut Copy. Black Kids music is described as alternative rock. They have been under the radar but are highly critically acclaimed; being on the Rolling Stone’s list of “Artists to Watch” in 2008. They have so much potential, I think they will only get bigger.

The Cool Kids

I have already mentioned The Cool Kids in my blog but I have been listening to them more and they have really grown on me. The two guys in the group are from Chicago and Detroit. They were also featured in Rolling Stone’s list of “Artists to Watch” in 2008. They are a hip hop group that have fun catchy songs but I also love their image. They seem to have perfected how they want their audience to perceive them. And it is working!

I stumbled on this blog about fashion that I love. Karla lives in California and she has such great style and taste. She really knows how to put a unique look together with simple pieces. She also knows her body well and can style it accordingly. If you like fashion at all I suggest following her or at least checking it out. She give great advise.
